Day 7 of Fair Trade month mentions that all of Dunkin’ Donut’s espresso drinks are Fair Trade Certified.  The company has served 100% Fair Trade Certified espresso since 2003.

From fairtrademonth.org:

As you can imagine, this has made quite an impact: To date Dunkin’ Donuts has purchased more than 20 million pounds of coffee from small-scale coffee farmers and has paid more than $1.3 million in community development premiums (that’s in addition to the Fair Trade price).  Farmers have used these premiums to build schools, invest in more sustainable farming practices and send their kids to college.

There is also a short story of Leidy Lorena, one of the students who has benefited from Dunkin’ Donuts commitment to Fair Trade Certified espresso. She received an education in schools that fair trade premiums provided and the community is sponsoring her through college. She hopes to become a nurse and work back in her community.

Enjoy!
